Katie Perrior MCIPR

Although graduating with a Politics degree, Katie first went to work on a trading floor from university. Politics lured her back into the media team at Conservative Central Office during 2000, covering the 2001 General Election under William Hague. Many of her contemporaries have gone onto become Cabinet Ministers, MPs, journalists or advisors – Katie left to work as a freelancer for Celador, Live8,  ITN, and then become the Head of Press for Channel 4 News. She returned to Politics as a Senior Media Advisor to the Shadow Home Secretary.

Through her freelance work, Katie identified a gap in the market for a different type of agency and in 2006 persuaded Jo to join her in setting up iNHouse. Katie provides key clients including Santander and CBS with Strategic Counsel, shaping the way they relate to their key audiences including handling sensitive political relationships. With an unrivalled contacts book across Westminster, Local Government and the media, her experience and formidable insight were put to good use in the Boris Johnson election victory of 2008 – where iNHouse were the sole providers of public relations support.

Katie advises clients on all aspects of media handling, crisis management and campaigning for iNHouse – elsewhere she enjoys mentoring other female entrepreneurs and hosting lectures in foreign countries on political campaigning. Since 2008, Katie has been a regular commentator on Sky News.

Jo Tanner MCIPR

Jo trained as a journalist so has an eye for a story and knows exactly what makes journalists tick, however, she was soon lured into political PR. After three years in Westminster working directly with politicians in the Press Office of the Conservative Party, Jo went on to lead campaigns for RNID, (managing Scotland, Wales and NI), NSPCC and the Learning and Skills Council.

In her next role as Head of Media at the British Chambers of Commerce, Jo gained valuable experience in dealing with regional media and a range of industries as well as understanding local sensitivities to national media campaigns. After creating a new in-house operation and running eye-catching media campaigns which joined up the fragmented UK chambers, Jo left to co-found iNHouse Communications.

Jo’s experience provides clients with expertise in diplomacy, sensitive political issues and overcoming hurdles to communicate with difficult to reach audiences.  Whilst working with Boris Johnson on his 2008 London Mayoral Campaign, Jo developed day by day media plans to launch policies and initiatives across all of London’s 32 boroughs.

Creativity to boost the PR profile is one of Jo’s favourite aspects of her work, particularly developing solutions working to tight budgets. In recent years, Jo has developed further expertise working on litigation including a major judicial review.
